Design Concept
This design opens up the room by replacing two bulky recliners with one streamlined power sofa facing the TV directly, creating clear sightlines and generous circulation. Warm taupe upholstery against the preserved fluted wall adds depth without visual weight, while a single swivel chair provides flexible seating without crowding the entry.
Key Decisions
- Solo sofa placement: A low-profile 84" power recliner with slim arms sits against the right wall, leaving 30"+ clearance to recline fully while keeping the window wall and door approach completely open.
- Lighting swap: The brass globe pendant is replaced with a semi-flush disk light to raise the visual ceiling and eliminate the dangling element that interrupted the room's horizontal flow.
- Curtain upgrade: Full-height warm-white linen-look panels replace vertical blinds, softening the window wall and drawing the eye upward to emphasize ceiling height.
- Minimal seating add: One compact swivel barrel chair anchors the left/front corner only—positioned to rotate toward conversation, TV, or the door without blocking pathways.
