Design Report & Material List

Design Concept

This living room channels warm Midcentury Modern principles through clean-lined walnut furniture and layered ambient lighting. The neutral foundation with cognac leather accents creates a timeless, livable space that feels curated without trying too hard.

Key Decisions

  • Layout: The sofa faces the balcony view rather than the TV, prioritizing natural light and conversation while keeping media secondary.
  • Lighting layers: Wall sconce + sputnik chandelier + two table lamps eliminate harsh overhead-only lighting and allow mood adjustment throughout the day.
  • Rug scale: The 8x10 rug extends under all front furniture legs, visually anchoring the seating group and softening the wood floor acoustics.
  • Plant placement: The fiddle leaf fig fills vertical dead space near the window without blocking the view, adding organic contrast to geometric furniture.
