Design Concept
Moss-Framed Command Center
The central challenge was a narrow corner with one window and no built-in storage, forcing every item to compete for limited surface area. The intent was to reduce screen fatigue and mental fatigue simultaneously by layering living textures around a focused tech hub. The moss panel anchors sightlines upward, drawing the eye off monitors during breaks without adding clutter. The curved desk wraps the user, keeping peripherals, plants, and tower within a 180-degree reach zone. Constraints included preserving walls, flooring, and window trim, so all impact comes from movable layers. The visible result is a Gaming Room that reads as a garden niche rather than an equipment depot.
Key Decisions
- Curved oak desk with integrated monitor riser — the wrap shape keeps mouse and keyboard centered while the riser lifts screens to neck-neutral height and hides small peripherals.
- Living moss wall panel in raw wood frame — provides acoustic dampening and a fixed green focal point that needs no watering or light, unlike potted plants.
- Asymmetrical plant placement around tower and sill — clusters greenery at the window edge and tower top to balance the visual weight of black electronics against pale walls.
- Warm task lamp on left wall, no overhead change — preserves the soft renovation scope while creating evening ambience and reducing blue-light exposure before sleep.
