Design Concept
This living room balances warmth and airiness through a grounded, layered foundation. The rug and coffee table work as quiet anchors—adding texture and function without competing with the existing architecture or the statement artwork.
Key Decisions
- Rug placement unifies the seating zone: the 8×10 ft scale lets the sectional and armchair share one visual footprint, making the room feel intentionally arranged rather than scattered.
- Low-pile, faded pattern hides daily wear and complements the herringbone floor without visual noise; the terracotta and charcoal tones echo the artwork's palette for subtle cohesion.
- Rounded walnut coffee table softens the room's linear edges (sectional, shelves, fan blades) while its slim metal legs keep sightlines open toward the balcony.
- Circulation clearance maintained around the chaise and balcony doors ensures the space flows for real living—no awkward squeezing past furniture.

Sizing Note
The 8×10 ft rug orientation places its long edge parallel to the sofa, allowing the sectional's front legs and the armchair's front legs to rest on the rug while leaving adequate hard floor exposed around the perimeter—this keeps the herringbone visible and prevents the room from feeling carpet-heavy.
