## Design Concept
This design layers warm, earthy textures over your existing architecture to create a grounded, lived-in retreat. The goal is collected comfort—pieces that feel found over time, not staged for a photo.
## Key Decisions
- **High, wide curtains** hung just below the beam line frame the doors without hiding the wood ceiling detail, adding softness while respecting the architecture.
- **Layered neutral textiles**—a larger textured rug underfoot and mixed throw pillows—absorb sound and make the terracotta floor feel intentional, not cold.
- **Warm, dimmable lighting** from multiple sources (pendant, table lamp, floor lamp, candle) lets you shift from functional to intimate as the day progresses.
- **Restrained mantle styling** keeps the fireplace as the focal point; the large art above does the visual heavy lifting without competition.

## Sizing Note
For the rug: aim for front legs of all seating on the rug, minimum 8x10, ideally 9x12. If budget is tight, layer a 9x12 natural fiber base ($150-250) under your existing rug rather than replacing it.
