## Design Concept

## Key Decisions
- **Column redesign**: Swapped thin posts for substantial 8" square columns with arched brackets and stone bases—adds heft and shadow lines that read "cottage" from the street
- **Layered lighting**: Brass lanterns flanking the door plus string lights overhead extend usable hours and create welcome depth on winter evenings
- **Natural wood focal point**: Left the front door in warm oak stain rather than painted; it ages gracefully and anchors the pastel palette
- **Rope and terracotta textures**: Woven lantern and oversized planter introduce nautical weave and Mediterranean clay without literal beach décor
