Bathroom: Tall Mirrored Cabinet with Stacked Shelving

Case summary

This compact Bathroom gains usable vertical storage through a full-height mirrored cabinet and open floating shelves stacked beside it. The minimalist direction keeps surfaces clean while the tall wall is fully activated for toiletries and linens, turning a narrow footprint into an efficient daily-use space without expanding the room's boundaries.

Design Concept

Tall Mirrored Cabinet with Stacked Shelving

The central challenge in this Bathroom is a narrow floor plan with limited counter space and one high, underused wall. The design intent is to capture that vertical real estate for daily storage without crowding the walk path. A full-height mirrored medicine cabinet over the wall-mounted sink provides enclosed storage for personal items, while three open floating shelves stacked beside it create flexible display and grab-and-go space for towels, baskets, and toiletries. The mirror reflects the window and ceiling light to visually expand the room, and the vertical shelf stack draws the eye upward, emphasizing height rather than width. All elements are surface-mounted, respecting the soft-renovation scope and existing tile and plumbing locations.

Key Decisions

  • Wall-mounted sink preserved — keeps floor area open and allows the tall storage wall to run uninterrupted to the baseboard.
  • Full-height mirrored cabinet — combines grooming function with concealed storage and reflects light across the narrow room.
  • Three staggered open shelves — creates accessible landing zones at varied heights without the visual weight of a full cabinet run.
  • Warm wood-tone shelf finish — adds tonal contrast to the cool tile and white walls, preventing a sterile feel in the minimalist palette.

Implementation Note

Mount the top shelf at least 12 inches below the ceiling to leave room for tall bottles and prevent items from being pushed against moisture-prone upper corners; verify stud locations first, as the stacked shelf load and mirrored cabinet weight require solid anchoring in a bathroom with daily humidity cycles.
