Design Report & Material List

Design Concept

A transitional front yard that balances the existing architecture with approachable cottage charm. The design uses a curved stone path to guide visitors naturally from driveway to entry while preserving the open lawn for recreation and the mature tree as a focal anchor.

Key Decisions

  • Offset stone walkway curves from driveway edge to front door, avoiding a rigid center-line path and keeping the lawn feeling spacious and usable
  • Layered planting beds wrap the tree and foundation with varied heights and bloom times, adding visual interest without maintenance-heavy formal hedges
  • Warm bronze shutters and terracotta door introduce depth and contrast against the soft blue siding, creating a cohesive color story that reads from the street
  • Subtle path lighting at the entry steps ensures safe evening navigation without over-lighting the natural setting
