Design Concept
Curved Desk with Woven Under-Basket Storage
The central challenge was fitting a complete gaming setup into a tight corner with an intrusive window ledge while maintaining the relaxed, utilitarian character of farmhouse style. The design intent unifies desk surface and window seat into one flowing worktop, eliminating the visual break between zones. Woven baskets beneath hide cables, controllers, and accessories that would otherwise collect on open shelves. The warm wood tone and natural fiber textiles offset the black electronics, preventing the room from feeling like an equipment depot. A monitor light bar and shaded table lamp provide layered, glare-free illumination without ceiling modifications. The visible result is a continuous, grounded station where farmhouse texture and gaming function share the same plane.
Key Decisions
- Curved L-shaped desk surface — follows the window recess geometry to create uninterrupted elbow room and visual flow between monitor area and seating ledge.
- Three matching woven under-desk baskets — provide concealed, category-organized storage for peripherals and maintain the farmhouse material story.
- Monitor light bar plus shaded table lamp — delivers asymmetric, warm-toned task lighting without hardwiring or ceiling work, reducing eye strain during evening sessions.
- Natural fiber throw and small potted plants — soften the tech silhouette and connect the interior to the daylight source at the window.

Implementation Note
Measure the window recess depth before ordering the desk; the curved return must land flush with or slightly past the inner wall edge to avoid a gap that traps cables and visually breaks the continuous surface. A common mistake is selecting a desk too shallow for the return, which forces the tower or speakers onto the seating ledge and defeats the unified plane.
