Painted Niche Bookcase Anchor
The mudroom's central challenge was its shallow depth and lack of dedicated retail architecture. The design intent was to create a self-contained boutique moment using non-structural layering: two black wire grids organize earrings and pendants at eye level, a round brass mirror expands perceived space, and a deep green painted bookcase with styled shelves anchors the corner. The glass display case with brass rail adds horizontal merchandising without blocking movement. Everything mounts to or rests against existing surfaces, respecting the soft renovation scope while delivering the requested density and polish.
Key Decisions
- Black wire grid pair at staggered heights — creates flexible, high-capacity jewelry display without case bulk; S-hooks and clothespins allow rapid inventory changes.
- Deep green interior paint on standard bookcase — defines a visual "room within a room" for accessories, breaking up white walls at low cost.
- Round brass mirror between grids and bookcase — reflects window light, bridges the two display zones, and invites customer self-trying.
- Terrazzo-finish glass display case with brass rail — protects higher-value items while contributing pattern and a second merchandising tier at waist height.
