Color Palette Generator for Room Photos
Extract colors from a room or inspiration photo, choose how to use them, and build a palette for your own space. The tool processes your image in this browser.
JPG, PNG or WebP · up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels. Extraction happens in this browser; your photo is not uploaded.
Your room palette
Colors with a purpose
Choose a photo to extract up to five colors. Then decide which belong on walls, furniture or accents.
Generate a color palette from a photo or image
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo. Crop away distracting areas with the percentage controls, then extract up to five dominant colors. Transparent pixels are excluded. Similar colors are clustered, so a monochrome image can return fewer than five colors. The selected photo is not uploaded by this tool.
Choose wall, furniture and accent colors
Assign each color to a role or leave it unused. The wall role can guide large painted surfaces; furniture colors can guide larger movable pieces; accents can guide textiles, art and small details. A role is your choice, not automatic recognition of objects in the photo.
Living room and bedroom palette ideas
For a living room, begin with flooring and large furniture that will stay, then choose wall and accent roles around their undertones. In a bedroom, bedding offers an easy place to test accents. A warm cream, muted olive and warm timber can form a restful direction; compare your own lighting before choosing finishes.
The 60/30/10 guide
Using roughly 60% dominant color, 30% secondary and 10% accent can help balance a room. It is a styling guide, not an area calculation. The photo pixel shares shown here describe the crop; they are not recommended wall or furniture percentages.
HEX colors vs real paint samples
HEX describes a screen color. It does not identify a paint brand or formula. White balance, exposure, reflected light and your display affect the extracted colors. Test real samples beside fixed finishes at different times of day before buying paint.
Bring a palette into your room design
Confirm the roles and edit the resulting design brief before opening Studio. An inspiration photo supplies colors; it should not become your renovation source. Only choose “my actual room” when the photo really is the space you want to redesign. AI generation uses the existing login and credit process.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
Palette extraction and cropping run locally in your browser. Downloading a palette also stays local. If you later choose the photo as your actual room and generate a design in Studio, the normal Roomagic upload process applies.
Can I use an inspiration photo?
Yes. Leave the photo type as Inspiration so only your color brief carries into Studio. Select your actual room photo there when you want to generate.
Are HEX values paint color codes?
No. They are screen colors, not manufacturer formulas or matched paint numbers. Compare real paint samples and product specifications.
How many colors should a room use?
A few coordinated colors are often easier to work with. Start with one dominant direction, a secondary material or color and a restrained accent. You can leave extracted colors unused.
Method and rule notes
Local pixel sampling and weighted color clustering produce the palette. Color roles are selected by you; no object recognition or paint-brand matching is performed.
