Coved LED Ceiling Wash
The room's central challenge was a plain white ceiling and walls that felt flat after dark, with a large dark sofa absorbing light and a sliding glass wall creating visual competition. The intent was to build ambient depth using only surface-mounted and non-structural additions. A continuous coved LED channel runs the perimeter of the ceiling plane, casting an even upward wash that floats the ceiling and softly grazes the sheer curtains. Black track lighting with adjustable spotheads adds directional task and accent layers. The result is a two-tier lighting scheme—ambient cove plus focused spots—that sculpts space without touching structure, pairs with the existing dark fan and window frames, and lets the brown sectional read as warm rather than heavy.

- Perimeter cove lighting with 3000K LED strip — creates even, shadow-free ambient glow that visually raises the ceiling and separates architecture from furnishings without structural modification.
- Matte black track system with narrow spotheads — provides adjustable accent lighting for artwork, seating areas, or future changes; the black finish ties to existing window frames and fan for cohesion.
- Double-layer window treatment: sheer white panels with single dark accent drape — sheers diffuse the cove's edge glow into the room while preserving privacy at night; the single dark panel anchors the glass wall without visual clutter.
- Compact round side table with candle-style light source — introduces a human-scaled glow point at seating height, breaking the ceiling's dominance and supporting evening relaxation.

Implementation Note
The cove LED channel must mount to a flat, continuous ceiling surface; if your ceiling has popcorn texture, budget an extra $100-200 for skim coating a 12-inch perimeter band, or use a surface-mounted aluminum profile with a diffuser lip that reads as intentional trim. Plan the cove circuit on a dimmer switch—undimmed 3000K at full output will feel clinical rather than warm.
