Design Report & Material List

Design Concept

This living room embraces "Quiet Modern"—a soft, neutral palette that maximizes natural light and creates visual calm. The layered textures of linen, wood, and woven patterns add warmth without clutter, making the space feel larger and more breathable.

Key Decisions

  • Floating furniture layout: The sofa and accent chairs are pulled away from walls to create conversational intimacy while preserving clear circulation to the balcony.
  • Low-profile media console: Keeps the TV wall visually light and provides concealed storage for cables and remotes.
  • Large-scale area rug: Anchors the seating group and softens the wood floors for acoustic comfort and underfoot warmth.
  • Sheer + blackout curtain layering: Allows filtered daylight during the day and full privacy at night without heavy visual weight.

Sizing Note

The 8x10 rug shown fits this ~12x16 ft room with 18" of wood floor exposed at edges. For smaller rooms, scale down to 5x7 but keep the same front-legs-on-rug rule for the sofa to maintain the pulled-together look.
