Design Concept
This living room balances collected warmth with intentional restraint, layering vintage-inspired textiles and organic wood tones against a neutral envelope. The oversized rug and sculptural coffee table anchor the seating zone while allowing existing personality—art, plants, shelf collections—to breathe.
Key Decisions
- Rug scale shift: The 8×10 vintage-style rug extends under all front furniture legs, unifying the seating cluster and visually expanding the room's perceived width
- Curved coffee table silhouette: The low oval walnut piece eliminates sharp corners for safer traffic flow and softens the room's mix of rectilinear frames and shelving
- Material continuity: Warm walnut tones in the new table echo the existing record console and ladder shelf, creating subconscious cohesion without matching sets
- Preserved vertical rhythm: Maintaining the woven pendant, macramé wall hanging, and tall floor lamp keeps the eye moving upward, offsetting the room's horizontal emphasis

Sizing Note
The 44" coffee table length leaves 18-22" clearance from sofa edge—ideal for leg room while keeping drinks within reach. If the vintage rug reads too dark initially, it will lighten visually as the olive ground fades slightly with sun exposure and regular vacuuming lifts the pile.
