Tiered Ceiling with LED Cove
The central challenge was elevating a plain ceiling plane into a defining architectural feature without altering structure. The tiered drop ceiling with hidden LED cove lighting creates ambient glow, visual depth, and clear spatial hierarchy in this living room. Recessed downlights within the tier provide task illumination, while the cove eliminates harsh shadows and flat overhead glare. The warm 2700K tone unifies the walnut media console, coffee table, and accent chair frame, preventing the orange upholstery from overwhelming the space. This layered lighting approach transforms a standard 8-9 foot ceiling into a gallery-like volume while remaining entirely surface-mounted and reversible.

Implementation Note
The LED cove requires minimum 8 inches of vertical ceiling drop to conceal the strip and diffuser; plan for 10-12 inches if using aluminum channel housing. Avoid placing cove too close to walls—maintain 6-8 inches clearance to prevent hot spots and allow even light wash.
